KVM Switch

Man, I got the coolest thing for the office computer last week. I have a MAC Powerbook that I use all the time and at church, I also use the PC as well. I consider myself a cross-platform user and I have to have PC and MAC (although I am enjoying the MAC more cause it’s newer for me – a little over a year now).

So, at church, I use my laptop (Powerbook) and then use the desktop for the PC. But, looking at the small screen (as sleek as it is) all day on the laptop can be a little hard on the eyes. So, I started to hook up the 17″ LCD monitor that I had for the PC desktop to the laptop and MAN, MAC OS X looks SO nice on that monitor. But, then I didn’t have a monitor for the PC. I researched and found a KVM switch. Basically, you hook up two computers (PC or MAC) to one monitor, one keyboard, and one mouse. So, with the desktop montior and keyboard and mouse, I can control my MAC and PC. Incredible!

All I do on the keyboard to switch back and forth is press the Scroll Lock (what the heck is this key for anyway?) twice and it goes from my MAC to PC and back. it’s so seemless as I don’t move my hands or my eyes that once I tried to copy from PC and paste into MAC and forgot that they were two completely different computers! What’s even more confusing now is since I’ve skinned my PC to MAC XP, I can’t remember if I’m on my PC or MAC! Haha!

Man, I love it. For $49.99, that’s saves monitor, keyboard, & mouse costs … better yet, I have a LOT of room on my desk!
