Christmas Decorations

Went to pick a tree with Kailey and Emily yesterday and they had a blast! They were weaving in and out of trees and finding them was like trying to find them in a forest! We finally got the “perfect” tree and dragged it into the house (needles and all). The kids were so excited! Christmas music was playing, Kathy was baking cookies, Kailey and Emily put all the ornaments on, and Nathan put the angel on the top of the tree. The best part is always turning off all the lights and turning on the lights of the Christmas tree. Even though real trees are a pain with all the mess that it creates, it’s worth it because of the smell.

This day was good for me … so many times I approach Christmas in such a jaded way. I don’t want to “buy” into the season cause of the commercialization of the season and just don’t want to do anything special. But, this really reminded me what Christmas was about … about the love that God has given us through Christ.

Thank you God, for reminding me that we are to reclaim what Christmas is really about, rather than watching the world take it away.
