Kailey had her birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese today with her 1st grade school class. She had a blast as well as her classmates! At one point, they were all yelling in unison, “Party, party, party, party!” Anyway, as a parent, it was really good to meet her classmates that she talks about all the time. I was looking forward to meeting Allen (the boy who taught Kailey to say, “you want a piece of me?”). But, he wasn’t able to come.
One thing that I was amazed about was when Kailey was opening her gifts from her friends, she wanted to open every card and read it. Man, she didn’t get that from me. I remember just ripping every gift open and not bothering with the cards so that I could see what else I got. Then again, maybe she remembers the cards that she gets from the grandparents in the mail … the ones with money in it! Hmm … maybe my parents kept all the money I got from all the cards that I didn’t open when I was a child. Oh well …. I guess that’s why we keep Kailey’s!
God, we thank You for the gift that You have given to us … Kailey! We pray that you would lead us to trust You by entrusting her to You. May she have a blessed year because it was filled with Your love and grace overflowing in her life!
