Knowing More = Less?

Have you ever had this thought? As you study more and more about a certain topic, you understand and learn that you know NOTHING about it! Perception-wise, you knew more about it than, before your pursuit of understanding more …

For example … I remember doing a sermon series on prayer once. I remember reading about 20 books on prayer. And as I learned more about it, I found out that I had MORE questions and that I knew far less about prayer than when I started out. Sure, I knew more about it, but it seemed that I knew more about it and could talk more confidently about prayer before the research and study rather than after. But, that’s so true with so many topics, especially in spirituality …

I guess that’s why pride is so bad … because we think that we know everything and yet that knowledge prevents us from pursuing to know more, when if we pursued more, we would find out that we know nothing.

God, teach me to be humble in every area where I “think” I know a lot!
