My Library

Thanks to Delicious Library, I have some of my books cataloged in my computer and now have a checkout system so that I know who borrows my books. I can also show my library online, so people can know what books I have. It’s not complete, but getting there. These are more of the recent, practical books … all of my seminary, theological books are in my garage (5 bookshelves worth!). One day, I’ll have to get them into this catalog.

Found out something awesome about Delicious Library in the process. They market that if you have an iSight, you can scan books, movies, and cds with it via barcode and automatically add it. Because I don’t have an iSight, I have just been manually typing in the title (not that bad). Found out that if you have a digital camcorder, you can connect it to your MAC via firewire and it works as well!!! Man, that could have saved me soo much time. Well, for the rest of the books, I’ll use it … I showed Kathy (my wife) today how to do it and she was amazed! That says a lot, as it’s not easy to impress her.

Anyway, when you look through my library (no Internet Explorer!), the yellow “out” label means someone’s already borrowing it. If you have a question about a book or want to borrow one, let me know …

Pastor Kye, I want to know what you think about this article regarding PDL.

intersting … not the first criticism I’ve heard about PDL. I don’t agree with his claims about the book having an Arminian approach to theology. He says that it is flooded with this theology and never gives one example.

This book, like many other books, are not to be dissected or exegeted like the Bible. In fact, it’s not proclaiming to be the Bible or the comprehensive guide to all Christianity. It is simply a practical book for people to see and understand God’s purpose for their lives … and it has inspired many to find and live it out …

About the different translations/paraphrases, I really like how he uses it. Yes, there are much better translations, but many times, we as Christians, are so familiar with the same verses that we don’t even realize what it means anymore. So, what’s more important? Not understanding or getting different looks of the truth and hungering to draw deeper?

People can debate and argue, but I really don’t think this is a theological one. PDL has touched many lives and churches and many people can say that Rick Warren is money hungry or whatever … but I think that’s a little judgemental, IMHO. And it is also my belief that PDL has been so successful because God used it to bring revival into the Church. Is it perfect? No! But neiither is any document outside of the Holy Bible.
