Ipod Your Scion

If you have an iPod, did you want a BMW when you saw the “Ipod Your BMW” commercial ad? Or if you have a BMW, did you want to get an iPod? I had neither, but I thought it was cool …

So last week, I got an iPod mini (as a gift) and wanted to connected it to listen in my Scion xB. But, because I only have a CD/MP3 player in my car and no tape deck, I needed to research about how to connect it. I tried FM modulators before and they are TERRIBLE (especially in LA with the crowded frequencies). I found out that there are a couple of companies that make iPod connections to almost every car factory stock radio. I also found out that these connections are MUCH better than the one for the BMW. So, basically, all you have to do is connect one wire into the iPod and it powers, charges and plays it through your factory stereo and the sound quality is as good as a CD. But that’s not all. You can use your factory stereo to CONTROL your iPod, so you can keep your iPod in your glove box or wherever, and it will play, rewind/fast forward, next/previous song, etc.

So, last week, I got it and installed it in my car and I gotta say, I LOVE it. It’s nice to be able to have all that music in the iPod and have it connected to your car stereo and not have to worry about the iPod battery dying and wires going everywhere. The only thing is that I have to know figure out where I’m gonna mount my iPod in my car. I found this guy who’s modded all these cars w/dockable slots and it’s amazing. One day when I have the time/energy, I wanna do it to my setup. I’m on my way to “pimping my ride.”

So, here’s what it looks like now:

If you have questions about your iPod and how to connect to your car, just ask me. I’ll tell ya whatcha need!
