Mac OS X – Tiger!

12 March 2005 47 views 2 Comments

Ok, there’s word on the streets (the net) that Tiger (the newest release of Mac OS X and billed as the most substantial upgrade to Mac OS X since the operating system debuted) will be in the stores by April 15th! They will be announcing on April 1st (I really hope this is not an April Fool’s Joke!) and in stores a couple of weeks after.

I’m looking forward to some new features in Tiger. Just like in other releases of the OS, I’m sure there will be people waiting in line the night before or the morning of to get their copy. Crazy people! BTW, does anyone have a sleeping bag I can borrow?

Personally, I’m most looking forward to Spotlight, the new Mail app, and Dashboard. iChat with more than two parties will be cool, if my cable connection will work well with the upstream bandwidth requirements (hopefully the H.264 codec will compress the actual data rate so it does). I plan to preorder my copy via the Apple Store for Education (typically $69 for OS X releases), and it should arrive about the same day as public release, if not earlier.
