Merry Christmas!

25 December 2005 99 views One Comment

During this season, we tell each other that it is a time for giving. It’s a time to be generous and a time to give of yourself to all those around you. And although that is true, we do have to be reminded that Christmas is not as much about giving as it is about receiving. We have almost bought into everything when we forget that.

The real meaning of Christmas is about truly receiving the grace and mercy of God, of recognizing that no matter what we have or what we have accomplished, or no matter how secure we are, or how respected in our world, we are no more deserving of God’s gracious presence, God’s great love, God’s invitation to come to the manger and follow the Jesus the King that a lowly shepherd. – Tod Bolsinger

Although we strive to be like God and be generous to one another, giving gifts, we must always remember that we are always the recipient and God is always the giver and we must take this season to RECEIVE His love, His grace and His mercy.

Don’t just give, but receive!
