The cat is out of the bag … Some got it early and others are patiently waiting. So …
Is it worth the wait?
What do I think about it?
Well, Apple’s brilliant marketing always makes you want to buy the latest OS upgrade making it seem like the biggest update ever, when it’s not even that significant an upgrade. Yet, that being said, there are a lot of features that they didn’t advertise/market (the little things) that I really like. Here’s a list of some, if you haven’t found them:
- RSS Screensaver (this is so cool … just select CNN or ESPN, and when the screensaver comes on, you get the news up-to-date in a real cool way!)
- Energy Saving Presets with one click (you can click on the battery menu and change the presets just like that … now that’s nice!)
- Dictionary App/Dashboard (they’ve got a built-in dictionary app in Tiger, so you don’t have to be connected and goto dictionary.com … you can also access it w/a dashboard widget)
- thumbnails of pics (finally, you get FAST thumbnail pics in Finder … you also get image dimension info now)
- slideshow images (just select the files you want in Finder and right-click “Slideshow” … nice cross-dissolve!)
- Set application to start on login in the dock (right-click on an app in the dock and you can select “Open at Login” and it will launch at startup)
Again, these are the uncommon features that I’ve been enjoying about Tiger. The major things are Spotlight (still like using QuickSilver though) and Dashboard (still use Konfabulator for some widgets).
Over all, I just like upgrades, period. Because I use most features in most programs, when they add something, I tend to use it. So, I like … it was worth the wait!
Tiger rocks and the RSS Screensaver rocks even harder!!!
Yeah, the RSS screensaver is truly awesome! Everyone that has been coming into my office the past couple of days has just been amazed by it. They wanna get a mac just for that! They can’t believe it. Finally, a usable/useful screen saver.
Another interesting feature– it ships with some handy blogging tools. Tiger ships “with Blojsom, a Java based mutli-user blogging system. And Blojsom has built in support for Ping-O-Matic.”

for more info.
I really dont’ know what Blojsom does, but I do know that it’s only availabe in Tiger Server.
oooooh the temptation!!! darn you mac people!!! (at least until i get mine)
