Ok, i’ve done it. I’m a Vonage customer. I have been eyeing and reading and deciding on whether to jump on this VOIP bandwagon, and finally, I’ve done it. I’m said goodbye to my landline. What is VOIP you ask?
Well, it’s using the internet as your phone company. Why would you do that? Well, it’s MUCH cheaper! And it gives you so many features. If you have a cable modem (high speed internet) and have a landline phone as well, you’re could save some money. A landline phone line (w/SBC) will cost you a minimum of $30+tax (and you know how much taxes can run). Vonage is $15 and gives you all the features (i.e. Call waiting, Caller ID, Voicemail, Call forwarding, Return Call, and so much more) as well as 500 free long distances minutes. Case in point, P.Dave’s SBC bill was around $50-60/month and he didn’t have high speed internet. Now, he got cable modem ($35/month) and Vonage ($15/month) and he’s got more features, plus high speed internet and 500 minutes of free LD w/cheap international rates (Korea is $.06), all for LESS that what he was paying monthly! Nuts! No brainer!
This is not a long distance package … this is your PHONE SERVICE! So, you cancel SBC, and go with Vonage for $15 (plus about a buck in taxes). And get this, Vonage to Vonage calls are absolutely free. So, if you have relatives/friends out of town or even out of the country and they have high speed internet, your calls between each other would be ABSOLUTELY free! Plus, regular international calls are CHEAP.
I’ve had it for about 2 months and it’s pretty neat. Plus, if you get referrals, they give you months free. So, if you tell somone about Vonage and they sign up, they get one month free and you get two months free. I’ve already got 4 months free, so it’s even cheaper!
Anyway, it’s pretty cool … I would STRONGLY recommend it (and that’s not just because I want referrals). In fact, if anyone wants to sign up for it, I’ll give the referrals to those who signed up under me! What a nice guy!
Serious, it’s the future of phone companies. VO/IP is being offered by major phone companies now (AT&T) as well as most of the cable companies and so many people are happy about the switch.
So, if you’re interested in signing up, just IM, email or leave a comment and I’ll get you a free month!
If i may ask, what blog software are you running? how much does it cost? and where can i get a copy? if you dont mind me asking.
