Minimalist

Lately, I’ve been trying to be more focused, especially when it comes to the computer. Before, I was all about the most applications and having it there at my disposal … even stuff that I would use once or twice a year! But, now, I’ve been influenced by LifeHacker, 43Folders, and GTD, and it’s all about trying to minimize distractions. Do I really need have my contact list of IM buddies and know exactly when they log on and off, taking up precious screen real estate? Do I have to keep all my applications in the dock, just in case? Do I need a beautiful desktop wallpaper?

So, I have become a minimalist and maybe even gone overboard.

After:

Thanks to programs like QuickSilver, Desktopple and a post from 43Folders, I’m FOCUSED! I can still access my contact list by sliding over my mouse on the left side, and it just pops up … or with a press of a keyboard-shortcut, I can see the desktop with all the icons. It was tough getting used to it, but I think it really keeps me focused.

Less is more!
