Words like forgiveness and redeemed are being used for something that happened yesterday at the Boston Red Sox season opening game. Bill Buckner, who was the first basemen for them in 1986, was blamed for losing the World Series for them by letting a simple ground ball roll between his legs and allowing the Mets to win the game and eventually the series. When you think baseball and choking, it would be the one that everyone would think of. Time magazine also named it the fourth greatest moment in baseball (with it being the only negative moment).
To jog your memory (everyone remembers this moment) of his error:
Well, he threw out the first pitch yesterday in the opener, and got a 4 minute standing ovation from 37,000 fans in a stadium that he hadn’t been in for 11 years.
Watch as he gets emotional:
Something about forgiveness and redemption always gets me. Maybe cause it’s my story too.
