Still Reading Your Bible Daily?

26 January 2009 427 views No Comment

So, this is the last week of January and I wanted to check in on everyone to see if they are still reading their Bible daily. I did a blog post last year about some statistics on Bible Reading and wanted to share that with you again. This is a chart of the web traffic on ESV Daily Bible reading website from 2007. As you can see, everything starts to decline after January. That’s why I wanted to encourage you to keep strong, knowing that most will quit this week!

I’m sure that YouVersion.com will do a blog post about their stats next year, and when they do, I hope that it will not be as drastic of a drop after January. The most helpful tip that has helped me through the years is to not get discouraged when you skip a day and feel like you have to “catch up.” Cause one day will turn into two days and before you know it, you’ll have to read like 10-20 chapters just to catch up. That makes anyone want to give up. So, here’s the tip: Just start fresh and read that day’s reading. The goal is not to finish the Bible … the goal is to spend time in God’s Word daily.

Press on and keep reading!
