Check out some actual questions asked in job interviews with Microsoft. I guess I’ll never be able to work there, as I don’t know the answer to most of the questions …
Talked to a friend who works at Microsoft and gave him the link and he said that it is true. Those and those type of questions are used in the interview process as they want to see how people think with an abstract problem. They believe that technical knowledge can be taught, but it’s hard …

Man, software releases galore! The Firefox 1.0 is now official and has been released TODAY. I have been downloading the betas and nightlies for a while now and now it’s all available to the public. Good luck downloading it though … the mozilla site is being hammered!
I’ve uploaded to my server so that you have NO problems downloading it:
Mac Version
Windows Version
Enjoy and spread the word!
Ok, the MAC and PC gap is definitely becoming smaller. Konfabulator, one of my favorite applications for the MAC has gone cross-platform today. What a day for software releases!
So, what is Konfabulator? Their slogan is “whatever you want it to be.” And that’s true. It’s not so much an application as it is a platform for new applications called widgets. There are HUNDREDS of widgets and they are very nice looking graphics that sit on your desktop and give you information … …
Oh man … it’s finally here! I’ve been waiting for this for a LONG time and they finally released it today! It’s amazing. Basically, Delicious Library is a cataloging system on your MAC that keeps track of your books, movies, music and games. But, instead of doing it in a flat boring text-based database, it does it graphically. These guys are amazing. One guys a junior in high school (geniuses like the creators of Adium).
So, do you have to enter all your books, cds, …
Man, I got the coolest thing for the office computer last week. I have a MAC Powerbook that I use all the time and at church, I also use the PC as well. I consider myself a cross-platform user and I have to have PC and MAC (although I am enjoying the MAC more cause it’s newer for me – a little over a year now).
So, at church, I use my laptop (Powerbook) and then use the desktop for the PC. But, looking at the …
Want your PC to look like a MAC? Here’s a screenshot of my PC. I call it Mac XP! Pretty nice, eh? There’s a couple of programs that you need to run. You need Mobydock for the dock on the bottom of the screen. You also need WindowBlinds with the Mac Panther theme.
For the calendar on the desktop, you need a great little program called Rainlender. I changed my default skin on it to Shadow3 (English).
Ok, one more program (I know, I …
Based on the stats of my blog, more and more people are using Firefox. That’s good! The Firefox community is dead serious about making this the number one browser. They’re even seeking a full page ad in NY Times. In fact, your name can be listed in the NY Times ad if you contribute $30 (individuals) or $10 (students). Word of mouth still serves to be the best way to spread the word.
I’ve been trying the AdBlock extension on Firefox and it’s pretty cool! When …
I’ve been downloading the betas and nightlies on Adium X .7 for a while now and now it’s public. If you have a MAC and you use IM on any platform, you MUST use Adium (pronounced like “stadium” without the “st”).
Things I love about Adium …
AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Rendevous, Groupwise, and more IM services
tab chat windows
meta-contacts/contact grouping (consolidate people who use more than one IM service)
contact list transparency to make it look like your contact list is on your desktop
clean, nice UI
Some people say that they …
Speed up load time
• Firefox is slow to load initially on Windows XP. You can speed this up a bit by using XP’s built in prefetcher. Simply right-click on the Firefox icon you use to start the browser. Add the text /Prefetch:1 to the end of the line in the target field.
The whole line should look something like the following:
“C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe” /Prefetch:1
