From the book Good to Great by Jim Collins:
Good is the enemy of great.
And that is one of the key reasons why we have so little that becomes great.
We don’t have great schools, principally because we have good schools. We don’t have great government, principally because we have good government. Few people attain great lives, in large part because it is just so easy to settle for a good life. The vast majority of companies never become great, precisely because the vast majority become quite good – and that is …

An opportunity to worship an incredible God with incredible people lead by incredible worship leaders with an incredible message = Priceless. Indescribable.
Thank you, MasterGod, for reminding me again today that You are SO SO big and no matter how “big” our struggles and pains are in life, You are BIGGER!
This past Sunday, Pastor Kyle Lake, who was the pastor of University Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, died of eletrocution during a baptism. 33-year-old, Pastor Kyle was adjusting his microphone while standing in the water. He is survived by his wife and three young children.
For those who don’t know Pastor Kyle Lake, he is the pastor where David Crowder and Band lead worship every Sunday, so the whole band have just lost their pastor.
Please pray for Pastor Kyle’s family and friends as well as the church …
From a Rolling Stone Interview that just came out:
What is your religious belief today? What is your concept of God?
If I could put it simply, I would say that I believe there’s a force of love and logic in the world, a force of love and logic behind the universe. And I believe in the poetic genius of a creator who would choose to express such unfathomable power as a child born in “straw poverty”; i.e., the story of Christ makes sense to me.
How does it make sense?
As an artist, …
From A Contemplative Pastor by Eugene Peterson:
I am busy because I am vain. I want to appear important. Significant. What better way than to be busy? The incredible hours, the crowded schedule, and the heavy demands on my time are proof to myself – and to all who will notice – that I am important. If I go into a doctor’s office and find there’s no one waiting, and I see through a half-open door the doctor reading a book, I wonder if he’s any good. A good doctor will …
Got back from a conference that I attended on Monday-Wednesday in Atlanta called Drive Conference ‘05. It was held at North Point Community Church where Andy Stanley is the senior pastor. It was incredible. I would have to say, one of the best conferences that I have been to, and I’ve been to quite a few … but I’m biased because Andy is my favorite pastor/preacher (who I finally met)!
I’m sure that I’ll post more about what I learned at the conference in future posts but here …
I got back from a PK Retreat (Monday-Tuesday) that Young Nak Church sponsored for the second year. What’s a PK retreat? What’s a PK? PK usually stands for Pastor’s Kid or Preacher’s Kid. So, a PK retreat is a retreat for Pastor’s kids. Someone asked, “Why they need a retreat for themselves?” Well, it wasn’t only a PK retreat, but a retreat for the Pastor’s families too.
I was the guest speaker for the PKs and Rev. Rim (Young Nak Church’s Senior Pastor) was the …
As mentioned before, Chris Tomlin’s “new” album is just amazing. I found the back stories on my favorite songs on the album. Here’s Chris talking about each song:
Holy is the Lord
This song was inspired by the picture of worship around the throne of God in Isaiah 6. The heavenly creatures sounding this anthem back and forth to one another.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty
The whole earth is full of his glory
Louie Giglio helped complete the thought with another picture from Nehemiah, where the people joined …
Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! – Psalm 139:23-24
Cool story that the author writes about in a chapter entitled “Confession” in a book I’m reading. These Christians are sitting around thinking what they can do to influence their college campus on a weekend with parties, drinking and sex. They decide to build a confession booth right in the middle of campus so that people could come and confess their sins. They would dress up in a monk outfit and setup a two partition shelter. But here was the twist … they weren’t actually going to …
