Kid’s New Year Resolutions

I don’t know if you set any resolutions for this year, but when my kids woke up early on January 1st, I asked them to write down 10 things that they resolve to change in the new year and email them to me. This is what they wrote down:

Besides the fact that they were a little similar to one another, I noticed something in the language that they used. For my youngest, most of the things that he wrote were things that he was NOT going to do, where as …

My Kids Are Stars!

My kids were asked to be part of an IgniterMedia shoot a couple of months ago and of course, I jumped at the chance! Kailey (oldest child) was too old, but Emily and Nathan were the perfect age they were looking for. When we got there and were given the script, they weren’t easy lines. I was getting a little worried, but good thing they only had to repeat the lines back. Well, here’s the video that they made called “I’ll Need You Mom” for Mother’s Day:

Today, …

Busted!?!?!

So, yesterday, I got a letter in the mail and it was from the Richardson Police Department … uh oh. When I opened it, I saw that it was one of those red light photos. These were the photos (my Honda on the right lane):

I really didn’t remember that day, but looking at these photos, I didn’t run the red light. In fact, I was turning right, so I wasn’t going THROUGH the light, how did I run it? In fact, looking at that second picture, …

Embarrassing

After making fun of the guy who said “tits” during his sermon, I think I have topped him.
This was my closing prayer for this Sunday’s Easter service (rated PG):

This is the most embarrassing thing that I have ever said in public. I tried to race through to cover it up, but don’t know if that helped … what do you think?
Forgive me, Lord!

Andy Stanley and Louie Giglio

If you haven’t heard, Louie Giglio is starting a church in Atlanta called Passion City Church with Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman and Christy Nockels. The first thought that everyone had was, does Atlanta need another church … especially with North Point Community Church (Buckhead Church and Browns Bridge Community Church) there. And the interesting thing in all this is … Andy Stanley (pastor of North Point) and Louie Giglio are very good friends. In fact, Louie has been a charter member of North Point since it’s start. …

Emily got Player of the Game!

First game of the season and Emily got “Player of the Game!”

This season’s coach is pretty intense and knows his drills. I think Emily will improve a lot during this season. She’s pretty stoked tonight. Last season, we had the nicest coach, but not so good in coaching. Was thinking … do I want a nice and encouraging coach and have a losing season? Or an intense and intimidating coach with a winning season? How about a nice and encouraging coach AND a winning …

I Love Chick-fil-A

My favorite fast food place has always been Chick-fil-A. But being in California for 7-8 years, I missed it so much. In fact, there was only one place (in Torrance) that was pretty far from church and home and so whenever someone was driving from there to church, we would always tell them to pick up some chicken sandwiches. Well now, living in Texas, there are as many Chick-fil-A’s as there are McDonald’s. And although I miss In-n-Out and the double-double from Cali, I’ll take Chick-fil-A …

A Role Model?

Yesterday, there was a school open house night where we go and visit the teachers and classrooms. We went to all of our kid’s classrooms. On each of their desks, they all had projects and drawings that we flipped through. I took a picture of one that caught my eye on Emily’s desk.

Someone who encourages me: Mom
My role model: Dad

Very cool. Except, when I asked Emily, “What a role model?” she said, “I don’t know.” Great.
Anyway, also on each of their desks …

A Challenge: 40 Days of Water

I decided early this week that I will take this challenge. And I want to extend the challenge to you:

We have the gift of choice: Freedom to choose on any given day what clothes we will wear, what work we will do, what food we will eat and what we will drink. In nearly a third of the world injustice threatens to take away these basic kinds of choices that we take for granted. In these places a woman can choose to drink the unclean river …
